A new season is a good reason to slow down for an afternoon — and that is exactly what Sunny Group did. The meeting room was cleared, the lights were set, and two cakes waited on the table for the colleagues who turned another year older this quarter.
The theme said it all on the screen: Q3 Autumn-Themed Employee Birthday Party — Autumn Greetings · Celebrating Birthday Together. While our Admin colleague Lee was still arranging the last trays of snacks, teammates were already finding their seats.
The afternoon opened with a warm-up game — "Catch the Rabbit Race" . One player at a time, 30 seconds on the clock, and a fan in hand: push the rabbit-shaped balloon across the floor to the finish line before time runs out. Step out of the lane and you start over from the beginning.
Simple rules, far more shouting than anyone expected. The applause from the first round set the tone for everything that followed.
Once everyone had caught their breath, the lights dimmed for the part of the day the birthday stars did not see coming: a short video put together for them. Season highlights, team photos and messages from colleagues — a few minutes that turned a busy quarter into something worth looking back on.
Then came the gifts. Each birthday star walked up to receive a relaxation gift set — our way of saying "slow down for a moment, you have earned it" — together with a handmade card, written by hand and personalised one by one.
The cards went to Demi, Anne, Judy and the rest of this quarter's birthday stars, each with its own message: thank you for the work you carry, for the creativity you bring, and for the brightness you add to the team. A group photo with gifts and cards in hand closed this part of the afternoon.
Birthday Song, Wishes and Candles
With the room lights down and the candles lit, everyone gathered around the cakes. The birthday song came together the way it always does — a little off-key, a little loud, and exactly right. Hands were clasped, wishes were made in silence, and then the candles were blown out in one breath.
On the screen behind them, one line stayed up for the rest of the afternoon: May every birthday celebrant enjoy happiness year after year and have all their wishes come true. — may every one of them find joy in every year, and success in everything they set out to do.
